We need your input!

Logo for the Five-Year Plan SurveyNOW is your chance to share what matters to you! The Ohio DD Council’s five-year state plan survey is open and collecting input on issues that matter to people with developmental disabilities, their families and other community stakeholders.

Although we have received over 500 surveys, only a small number were completed by people with developmental disabilities.

  • 50% were professionals who work in the developmental disabilities field
  • 36% were families or guardians
  • 14% were people with developmental disabilities

As you can see, we need to hear from more people with developmental disabilities!

Hearing from individuals is important because the survey results will be used to develop the next five-year plan (2022 - 2027) for the DD Council. This plan allows Council to develop grants and projects that benefit the developmental disability community across the state based on the issues that are important to you.

Take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RGMMWWT

Click on the video below to listen to Paul Jarvis, Council’s legislative liaison officer, for why it’s important to take the survey. And please encourage others to take it too!

Outreach major focus for Ohio DD Council

Collage of pictures of various people with disabilitiesOutreach is an important part of the Ohio DD Council’s work to achieve its mission to create change that improves independence, productivity and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities and their families in community life. Outreach activities are culturally competent and involve reaching out to unserved and underserved populations who might not come to the attention of the Council.

The Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (DD Act) states that the unserved and underserved includes, but is not limited to, populations from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds, disadvantaged individuals with limited English proficiency, individuals from underserved geographic areas (rural or urban), and specific groups of individuals within the population of individuals with developmental disabilities, including individuals who require assistive technology in order to participate in and contribute to community life.

To put it simply: Outreach is important to the ultimate goal of inclusion.

Visit the Outreach section of our website to find information on our Outreach activities, links to resources you can use and more. After looking through the section, please take a quick survey to let us know what you think about the Outreach section. Your input is valuable!
