On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, the first meeting of the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Caucus met. State Senators Andrew Brenner and Nikki Antonio welcome legislators, staff, and system stakeholders. Teresa Kobelt from OCALI and Jeff Davis, director of DODD provided the caucus with an outline of the developmental disabilities system in Ohio. Stakeholders were asked to develop a flow-chart to help legislators understand the different responsibilities and programs of each organization.
On Monday, April 15, 2019, US Senator Sherrod Brown joined 28 other US Senators by signing onto a letter of support for restored and increased funding for DD Act Programs such as DD Councils, state Protection and Advocacy Agencies, and University Centers of Excellence on Developmental Disabilities. A similar letter was sent in the US House of Representatives on March 28, 2019, though no Member from Ohio signed onto the Dear Colleague Letter.

On Wednesday, April 24, 2019, the Senate Finance Committee will kick off their hearings of the state operating budget (HB 166). The committee will hear from Office of Budget and Management, Legislative Services Commission, and Ohio Department of Taxation. The committee also plans to hear testimony from the Departments of Education and Higher Education. The hearing is scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Senate Finance Hearing Room.
On Thursday, April 25, 2019, the Senate Finance Committee will hold its second hearing on the state operating budget (HB 166). The committee will hear testimony from the directors of the Departments of Medicaid, Mental Health and Addiction Services, and Job and Family Services. The hearing will take place at 9:00 a.m. in the Senate Finance Hearing Room.
On Thursday, April 25, 2019, the House Committee on Administration, Subcommittee on Elections, will hold a field hearing entitled “Voting Rights and Election Administration in Ohio,” at the Cuyahoga Community College, Jerry Sue Thornton Center (2500 E. 22nd St.), Cleveland, OH 44115. The hearing will begin at 10:00 a.m. and members of the public are encouraged to attend. Ohio Congresswoman Marcia Fudge is the Chairwoman of this Subcommittee.
