Governor Appoints New Chairperson to Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council

March 10, 2021 (Ohio) — Michael Denlinger, of Hamilton County, has been named Chairperson of the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council by Governor Mike DeWine. Governor Appoints New Members to Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council

February 4, 2021 (Ohio) — Governor Mike DeWine has appointed three new members to the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (Ohio DD Council), the state’s disability advocacy agency whose mission is to create change that improves independence, productivity, and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities and their families in community life. 

The new appointees from across Ohio fill several open positions on the Council. They include:

  • Annette L. Wood of Akron (Summit County)
  • John Banchy of Cincinnati (Butler County)
  • Jodi L. Young of Columbus Grove (Putnam County) 

In addition, the Governor re-appointed Pamela Green of Cincinnati (Hamilton County) for another Council term. Read more...


Ohio DD Council Seeks Public Comment on 2022-2026 Five Year State Plan

January 6, 2021 (Ohio) — The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (Ohio DD Council) is seeking public comment on its Five-Year State Plan that will take effect from 2022-2026.

Based on survey results collected about the problems or needs of Ohioans with developmental disabilities, the Ohio DD Council drafted the 2022-2026 Five-Year State Plan. The State Plan lists the projects that the Council plans to fund to address the needs identified by people with disabilities, families and stakeholders across the state. Read more...


Ohio Governor Appoints New Members to Statewide Disabilities Council

December 15, 2020 (Columbus, Ohio) — Governor Mike DeWine has appointed five new members to the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (Ohio DD Council), the state’s disability advocacy agency whose mission is to create change that improves independence, productivity, and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities and their families in community life. The new appointees from across Ohio fill open self-advocate and family members positions on Council. They include:

  • William Ackman of Upper Arlington (Franklin County)
  • Courtney Hineman of Hamilton (Butler County)
  • Debbie Lozano of Mentor (Lake County)
  • Amanda Via of Pleasant Hill (Miami County)
  • Brian Vieth of Cincinnati (Hamilton County)

In addition, the Governor re-appointed Jean Jakovlic, Franklin County, for another Council term. The newly appointed members will serve two three-year terms on the Ohio DD Council. Read more...


Ohio DD Council Seeks Input for Five-Year State Plan Survey

October 2, 2019 (Ohio) — The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (Ohio DD Council) has released a survey to identify problems and needs that should be addressed for Ohioans with disabilities across the state. 

The input will be used to develop the statewide developmental disabilities council’s Five-Year State Plan, a strategic plan that will drive the Council’s mission to create change that improves independence, productivity and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities and their families in community life. Disabilities Council Accepting Application for New Members

May 6, 2019 (Ohio)  The Ohio Deveopmental Disabilities Council (DD Council) is recruiting new membership for the following categories:

  • Individual with a developmental disability,
  • Parent or guardian of a child with a developmental disability, and
  • A representative from a private non-profit organization serving persons with developmental disabilities.

Estate Planning Guide Provides Insights for Ohioans with Disabilities

April 15, 2019 (Columbus, OH) The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council has released a new book today designed to improve understanding of the different strategies available for estate and special needs planning for individuals with disabilities, their families and others. Planning for Bright Tomorrows: Estate and Future Planning for Ohioans with Disabilities and Those Who Love Them was authored by Dublin attorneys Logan K. Senators Brenner & Antonio Announce Creation of Ohio Developmental Disabilities Caucus

April 2, 2019 (Columbus, OH) Senators Andrew Brenner (R-Powell) and Nickie Antonio (D-Cuyahoga) today announced details for the inaugural meeting of the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Caucus, which will be exploring new and innovative ways to provide support and improve the quality of life for Ohioans living with disabilities. Governor Appoints Pamela Green to Ohio DD Council

January 30, 2019 (Columbus, OH) Pamela Green, CEO of Easterseals serving greater Cincinnati (Easterseals GC), was appointed to the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council by former Governor John Kasich before his tenure ended earlier this month. Transportation Study Identifies Challenges for People with Disabilities

July 28, 2017 (Columbus, OH) – More than half of the people with disabilities responding to a statewide transportation survey indicated that they had to wait at least 30 minutes or longer to be picked up for a ride. Approximately half (51%) of the survey’s 534 respondents with disabilities stated they were 15 minutes late, or longer, for rides they depend on. Read more...
