Comic Book “Adventures From My World”- Meet the panel & author Julie Averbach as she reads the comic book and leads a discussion among a panel of teen siblings of people with disabilities. As a teenager, sibling Julie Averbach created Adventures From My World, a comic book designed to support siblings of individuals with special needs. This comic reassures siblings that they are not alone and raises awareness about their often overlooked experiences, and fosters open emotional dialogue about the unique hardships that siblings face. She earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, 2016 National Young Woman of Distinction, Diller Tikkum Olam Award, President’s Volunteer Service Award and the National AXA Achievement Award. Currently a double major at Yale and only 21 years old!
