From the Ohio Interagency Work Group on Autsim:

Families play a critical role in the lives of people with autism. Some of the unique needs and challenges faced by these families are at the forefront of state policy. For example, families of children with autism are more likely to:
• report financial problems due to costs of medical care.
• reduce their work hours due to lack of childcare.
• live in “low income” households.

As we enter state budget season, how can families best share their experiences with policy makers? What do policy makers want to know and hear about? What are key points in the legislative process or key people to talk to?

Join a panel of parents and policy-makers on Friday, February 26 from 11-12 to learn more about partnering with policy makers. Panelists include:

Kevin Bacon, President & CEO – School Choice Ohio, former State Senator and State Representative, parent
Michael Hartley, President, Swing State Strategies and parent
Senator Jay Hottinger, President Pro Tempore, Ohio Senate
Representative Allison Russo, Ohio House of Representatives

IWGA webinars are facilitated by OCALI's Office of Policy.
